In Recognition of Outstanding Literary Work
For Patricia G. Maxwell, writing has been part of her life ever since her college days when she wrote poetry “just for fun” but which also got published in the Walla Walla College literary magazine. She met her husband, Burton Maxwell, at college and they have been happily married ever since. His work as a pastor took them all over the United States and led them into experiences running the gamut from humorous to heart-rending: many of those stories became the background for much of her writing. Her most recent historical romance, When Rain Comes, is based on real-events that took place in Chula Vista, California, 100 years ago. In 2016 she was given the Gayle McCandliss Arts Award in Recognition of Outstanding Literary Work.
